Welcome to the website of the Landesgartenschau Bayreuth! We inform you comprehensive about all important things about the green-colored big event in Bavaria in 2016th.
The Upper Franconia Cultural Metropolis Bayreuth is a Festival and University City. From 22nd April till 9th October 2016, it will also be the host of the Bavarian State Garden Show.
The symbol character and "Hostess" of the Landesgartenschau is the Margravine Wilhelmine of Bayreuth. The Baroque Gardens and buildings created during her regency such as the UNESCO World Heritage Margravial Opera House or the Castle Fantasie with the first German Garden Art Museum are still very impressive.
To honour the Margravine Wilhelmine, the new Garden Show landscaped park is called ‘Wilhelminenaue’, "Music for the Eyes": Under this motto, the ‘Wilhelminenaue’ builds a bridge between the historical city centre, the Margravine Hofgarten and the Baroque Eremitage creating a unique, permanent green and recreational area. This "pleasure garden" in the best of Bayreuth garden tradition is inviting for a melodious discovery journey, modern and yet playful.
From the Botanical Garden of Bayreuth to the Rock Garden Sanspareil: 15 cities, municipalities and institutions with impressive building and Garden Art sites or natural areas are official companions of the Landesgartenschau Bayreuth 2016. Together, they accentuate the region and inspire visitors from home and abroad with many colourful and distinctive offers.
If travelling individually or with a tour group: Package deals and arrangements offer an excellent opportunity to discover Bayreuth and the Garden Show as well as the region.
